A few of the pocket square designs once they were printed onto a silk, combined with my garments. I was quite surprised with how well they went together considering when I first started putting together designs I didn’t have much of an idea of how my final collection would look and work together.

As well as having fabric samples I wanted to show my designs in the context of some actual garments so I got two shirts made by this lovely lady on Etsy out of fabric I had printed digitally at university. I couldn’t be happier with the result and I think it really helps to be able to show the designs in their proper context.

The orange shirt with added hand stitching to cover up some of the areas where the dye bled. This stitching isn’t particularly visible from a distance but it adds another texture to shirt which makes it look more interesting.

I did manage to find some things which combined both of the main things I wanted to look at together, including this quilted shirt by Bronwen Marshall which I saw at the Power of Making exhibition at the V&A recently. If you look on the website there is a whole collection of them which are all slightly different but I liked this one particularly because of the simplicity and block shapes used.
